How-to guide

Simple steps. Take your time — nothing is lost if you stop half way.

1. Sign up

  1. 1Tap “Sign in” at the top of the screen.
  2. 2Choose “Create account”, or tap “Continue with Google” or “Sign in with Apple”.
  3. 3Type your name, email and a password, then tap the button.
  4. 4Open the email we send you and tap the link to confirm.
  5. 5Fill in your details: name, home club and handicap. No handicap? Tick the box and we use 18.
  6. 6Optional: on your Profile page, tap “Add a photo” to add a profile picture.

2. Become a member of a society

  1. 1Tap “Become a member” (or “Join a society”).
  2. 2Pick your society from the list — no code needed.
  3. 3A payment box pops up showing the yearly membership fee (usually €50) and how your society takes payment: cash, card link or bank transfer.
  4. 4Pay your society directly, then tap “I've paid” so the organiser knows.
  5. 5Your organiser approves you. You'll get a welcome email, and can then play, pay and submit scores. Until then you can look around.
  6. 6In more than one society? Each has its own membership. When you sign in, just tap the society you want.

3. Put the app on your phone

  1. 1Tap “More” at the bottom of the screen, or open your Profile.
  2. 2Tap “Get the app on your phone” and follow the steps.
  3. 3iPhone: tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”. Android: tap the three dots, then “Add to Home screen”.

4. Playing a game

  1. 1The front page shows when the next session starts and when it ends (for example March to October 2027).
  2. 2Tap “Next event” at the bottom to see every game this season.
  3. 3Tap “I'm in” or “I'm out”. If you're out, no fee is added.
  4. 4If you're in, choose lunch (€15) or no food — it's added to your green fee.
  5. 5Pay your society, then check the draw for your tee time. Groups are shuffled fairly.
  6. 6After the round, enter your scores (or snap a photo of your card and check every hole), then pick your marker to approve it.
  7. 7Watch the leaderboard, your group standing and Society News for notices from your organiser.

5. Register your own society

  1. 1Sign up first (step 1), then tap “Register your society” and type its name.
  2. 2You'll get an invoice by email and on screen: €50 for up to 50 members (€40 more for up to 100), with our bank details and a payment reference.
  3. 3Pay by bank transfer and email your proof of payment to payments@thesocietymanager.ie.
  4. 4Once we confirm, your society opens for members to join.

6. Running your society (organisers)

  1. 1Open your society and tap “Manage” for the organiser dashboard.
  2. 2Add your payment options (cash, card link, bank details) so members pay you directly. Set the membership fee.
  3. 3Add venues and games with a date and first tee-off time. Tap “Change game” to edit one (including its venue), or “Cancel game” to call it off — members see a notice in Society News.
  4. 4Set the lunch menu and pictures, and add the restaurant email so lunch orders are emailed to them.
  5. 5Tap the “Manage members” tab (Organiser tools, or Manage in your society) to approve or decline new members, mark fees paid, and remove or block if needed.
  6. 6Record payments, post Society News, and reshuffle the draw if you need to.
